Worth a watch!

I've liked the band, OK Go, for a while. They became well known with their first music video, "Here It Goes Again" that involved a group of 6 treadmills. I probably watched that video 100 times. I bet you've seen it too!

Last year, they came out with another great video for "This Too Shall Pass" that was based off of a Rube Goldberg Machine. They had to do the entire thing in one take. I can't imagine just how many times it took to get it perfect!

Here is the latest video for "White Knuckles". I couldn't tell you any of the words of the song, and I probably wouldn't recognize it if it were played again, but I was glued to my computer. You'll see why ...

Pretty amazing, huh?

"Feeling Good"

Last Saturday, I was sitting around all day, being SUPER bored.

Then, at 6:30, I get a call from my friend Rachel. "What are you doing? Want to go to the Michael Bublè concert tonight? We need to leave between 7:15 & 7:30." I was so flustered, I wasn't sure what to say. I probably wasted a good 5 minutes just debating with Rachel whether or not I could get ready in time.

I didn't have anything else going on, and had just whined about the fact that Jill got to see his concert in Wichita & Julie was going in Columbus. So ... YES! I hurried to get ready and then went to meet up with Rachel and her sister & brother-in-law.

We had AWESOME seats! I've never been to the Sprint Center for a concert, only for the Big 12 tournament, but I was still surprised how awesome it was!

I have a great video of his song, "Feeling Good" from the encore, but stoopid Blogger took a year to upload it & then it wasn't actually in my post :( I've been singing in all day, every day, since I got home from the concert.

I had a WONDERFUL time and I'm an even bigger Michael Bublè fan than I was before the concert. Thanks for the invite, Rachel!

I think she's gonna be a drummer!

I got to go hang out with Molly & Erik this afternoon ... oh, and Ellen was there, too! ;)

She had just eaten and was more smiley and talkative than I've seen her in a long time. I think she's finally starting to feel a bit better. She has been sick with a stuffy nose since she started going to school 2 months ago. I think that will be the case for the rest of her life, unfortunately.

We played for a bit, and then Molly & I were working on our laptops to make some changes to our blogs and Ellen got to lay on the floor & play with part of her exer-saucer that detaches to use on the floor.

Here she is making all sorts of music! Enjoy! :)

I don't need any other Christmas carols

I am finally listening to the Christmas mix CD that Molly & Erik send out in their Christmas cards. I don't have a stereo in my place and the one in my car is broken. While I'm making & wrapping presents today, I thought I'd put the CD in my laptop to listen to it.

Well, I get to song 9 and jump up to come to my laptop to try and figure out what song it is. It's called "The 12 Days of Christmas" by Straight No Chaser. After googling to see what it is, I found a whole group of their videos on YouTube. They are an acapella group from the Indiana University.

Here is their version of "The 12 Days of Christmas"!

I think Britney's new song is starting to grow on me ... just like Toxic and Gimme More did. What is wrong with me?

She's Back!

Oprah started back up this week! I'm just now finding time to get caught up on the shows that I did DVR.

Who else saw the show on Tuesday with Charise, the 16-year-old singer? This clip isn't the greatest, but you'll get the point!

Em and I obviously weren't there this week ... but I wish I could have been for at least one of her new shows!

Heart came to play a concert ...

... at Molly & Erik's. Okay, maybe they didn't.

We sucked them into the obsession. Well ... maybe. I think Molly & Erik had fun at our mini Guitar Hero party a few weeks ago, but I don't know if they will become addicts like we are.

Mitzi, Jill & Adam came over one Friday night to play a little GH on Erik's big screen TV! We were all pooped from the long week, but it was still fun to relax and have fun for a few hours. Molly & Erik were out running errands earlier, but came home to find us.

Here they are jamming out! It wasn't quite as funny as when Mom played for the first time, but both of them did WAY better than I did the first time I played.

Okay ... so here is a video of them rocking out. Turn up your volume to really hear them.

I think this is the first song they played ... Barracuda. Molly didn't seem to get into it as much as Erik did. :)
And here's Minnie ... totally bored out of her mind! What's wrong with her? We were putting on an awesome concert! :)

I can name that tune in 5 notes!

Tonight is the BIG All-Metro Xtreme Team Trivia Championships!

We're all pumped and we've been studying in our own unique ways. I probably haven't been doing as much studying as I should have been, but I'm excited for the chance to win some money tonight!

I'll be sure and update tonight with the final score and how we did! It should be an interesting night, so I'll be sure to take my camera as well!

Off to grab a quick bite to eat before we meet up!

You do know that's a Journey cover band, not the REAL band, right?!?

If you've already read Jill's post from today, you 'd would have read her description of our Saturday evening. It's WAY better than anything I could write with the way I'm feeling right now. In fact ... why don't you just jump over there for a minute so you can read all about it. Then come back to see my photos and captions! :)

Here's the massive crowd at The Record Bar to see Stone in Love last night. This picture doesn't really do the crowd justice. It was super crowded when we got there at 9:45ish, and the band didn't start playing until 11:00. Adam found us the best spots in the house ... right off the side of the stage to the right in the front row. Thanks Adam! Who wants to sit at a booth, anyway? See the girls in the right side of my picture? They were dressed up in their 80's gear and acting like they were actually at a Journey concert. At the end of the evening, Jill punched me in the arm when she saw them jump on stage to dance with the band. I took lots of video from last night with the plans to put them on my blog. Turns out today when I watched them that the sound was awful. If they really sounded like that last night, I would have left. I won't torture you all with the scary videos.

Here's Adam looking super thrilled to be there with us and Doug being too cool for a boy-space-friend picture! :) Thanks go to the boys for working hard to save our awesome spots up front when we would take bathroom breaks!

The chickies. Can you tell which one of us had lots-o-wine before she even got to The Record Bar? (Hint: She's wearing black and she's not me!)

And here's the pic I got of the whole band, awesome 80's costumes and all. Go check them out if you ever find that they are playing again around town. I had lots of fun, even though I'm not the biggest Journey fan. Anyway, I think Mitz and Jill are currently holding the #1 and #2 Journey Fan spots! :)

Congrats to me!

I've accomplished 2 very important things since I got home at 8:15 tonight!

Here is my dish cloth that I FINALLY finished! The colors are more true to the top photo, but I wanted you to see how cool it looked as I knit. I love the striping that just happened as I knit! Pretty, huh? Now I'm on to another one with totally different colors and WAY bigger needles as this one about gave me a panic attack!

This is the other thing I accomplished! 100 % accuracy and 249 notes out of 249! I played "My Name is Jonas" against Rob and kicked his booty! Actually ... he did very well with 95% of the notes! Then I started my own band. No official band name yet (I'm willing to take suggestions!) and could NOT figure out how to pass the bonus battle round against Tom Morello. I guess I'll need more practice tomorrow.

It's a good thing these two things happened tonight, or I have no clue what I would have blogged about! Today went well at school. Yoga was fun. The weather is still cold. I'm still overwhelmed by grading. Blech, Blech, Blech!

Hope everyone is ready to wind down their weeks. I'm crossing my fingers that the predicted snow actually comes early and that we have a snow day. I'm happy with no snow day tomorrow as long as we don't get 5" while we are school and then have a hard time getting home.

Less Talk More Rokk

Tonight was a lazy, but really fun night at our house. We had a mini pot-luck dinner, guitar lessons, knitting mini-guild, and Guitar Hero party!

Adam & Jill came over. Adam was still sporting his "Bean Team" name-tag ... and he was allowed since he won the Oak Hill chili cook-off contest today! His chili was GREAT and I loved it! Adam told me AFTER I ate 1/2 a bowl that it had basil in it. I loathe basil, but didn't seem to have any troubles with it today. Mitzi came over with Guitar Hero and her real guitar for lessons. Jenny & Rob were here, too ... and the dogs had a family reunion after being apart from each other for over a week.

Here are a few pics of our evening.

Here are the Chittums rocking out on GH face-off. They are both really good at GH but haven't had a chance to play GH2, so that was fun.

Here are Jenny & Rob playing for the first time. They both did REALLY well! The first time I played, I got booed off stage about 13 seconds into the song. They were playing with 95% accuracy by the end of the night.

Here's the real guitar lesson taking place in the other room so we could still rock out in the front room!

The REALLY exciting news of the night is not how little money we all spent hanging out tonight OR how Jill and Mitzi both got a lot done on their scarfs OR how successful Jenny & Rob were at GH the first time ... it was this:

YES! That's my favorite player, Pandora, looking like a bad ass. I was player 1 and I hit 99% of my notes. Actually, it was more than that (see next picture). I had a note streak of 298 notes in a row. I was doing so well the whole song, and then when I missed one note, I literally gasped out-loud. I thought for sure I could get a perfect song! But ... I did do better than last time.

Here are my stats. This is why I said that I did better than 99%. I only missed ONE out of 326 notes in the song! Woo Hoo!

Had to quickly get my blog in before today was over. Off to continue working on my dish cloth that I'm knitting and hit the sack. It's been a long day!

Snow White is doing dishes again cause what else can you do with seven itty-bitty men?

That's a quote from my new favorite song of the week: Fairytale by Sara Bareilles. She was one of the lucky artists to have a free iTunes song of the week download months ago. Her stuff was actually one of the few great downloads and people went crazy over her. I bought the whole CD, which I rarely do on iTunes. Mitzi introduced me to her with her song, Long Song. I was hooked as soon as I listened to that song. She is singing part of it in a current Rhapsody commercial that's on now.

Anyway ... her lyrics for Fairytale are FANTASTIC!
I thought I would share them. If you get a chance to hear the song, they are much better with her singing them than they are just being read.

Cinderella's on her bedroom floor
She's got a
Crush on the guy at the liquor store
Cause Mr. Charming don't come home anymore
And she forgets why she came here
Sleeping Beauty's in a foul mood
For shame she says
None for you dear prince, i'm tired today
I'd rather sleep my whole life away than have you keep me from dreaming

Cause i don't care for your fairytales
You're so worried bout the maiden
Though you know she's only waiting on the next best thing

Snow White is doing dishes again cause
What else can you do
With seven itty-bitty men?
Sends them to bed and calls up a friend
Says will you meet me at midnight?
The tall blonde lets out a cry of despair says
Would have cut it myself if i knew men could climb hair
I'll have to find another tower somewhere and keep away from the windows

Cause i don't care for your fairytales
You're so worried bout the maiden
Though you know she's only waiting on the next best thing

Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom
Man made up a story said that i should believe him
Go and tell your white knight that he's handsome in hindsight
But i don't want the next best thing
So i sing and hold my head down and i break these walls round me
Can't take no more of your fairytale love

Cause i don't care for your fairytales
You're so worried bout the maiden
Though you know she's only waiting on the next best thing
I don't care
I don't care
Worry bout the maiden
Though you know she's only waiting spent the whole life being graded on the sanctity of patience and a dumb appreciation
But the story needs some mending and a better happy ending
Cause i don't want the next best thing
No no i don't want the next best thing

Here she is singing Fairytale live. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZ96N59XuL4
